No. 18 Women’s Basketball Ends 2019 with Two Home Games this Weekend

The 18th-ranked Lyon College women’s basketball team will host two conference games this weekend before the end of the calendar year

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 18th-ranked Lyon College women's basketball team will end the 2019 portion of its schedule with two home conference games this weekend inside Becknell Gymnasium. Stephens College will be the first American Midwest Conference team to come to town, as the Scots host the Stars on Thursday at 6 p.m. for Kids' Night. The Scots will end the calendar year on Saturday at 1 p.m. against William Woods for Military Appreciation Day.

**On Thursday night, all kids will get in free and will receive a ticket for a free popcorn from the concession stand. There will be prizes given away during the game and will be a contest at halftime.

**On Saturday, any military personnel, past or present, will be admitted free. All military personnel present during the game will be recognized at halftime of both the women's and men's games.

THE MATCHUP

LYON: The Scots recently moved up from No. 21 to No. 18 in the second NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 poll, which was announced by the national office on Wednesday. Lyon currently stands at 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the AMC entering the weekend. The Scots opened up their four-game home stand with an 80-62 win over Philander Smith College last weekend. Madison Riley paced the Scots with a game-high 24 points, while Katie Turner recorded her third double-double of the season (14 points, 10 rebounds). Riley currently leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game. Turner is the team's leading rebounder at 8.0 boards per game.

SC: Stephens enters Thursday night's matchup at 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the AMC. Makenzie Jemes is the lone star averaging double figures in scoring this season at an even 10.0 points per game. Jemes is nearly averaging a double-double this season as she is the team's leading rebounder at 9.0 rebounds per game.

WWU: William Woods enters the weekend at 8-2 overall and 3-2 in the AMC and will play at Central Baptist College on Thursday night before making the trip to Batesville on Saturday. Three players are averaging double figures in scoring this season for WWU, led by Kaycee Gerald, who is averaging 15.4 points per game. Peyton Greenlee is second on the team at 14.9 points per game, followed by Kasey Hazell at 13.3 points per game.

SERIES HISTORY

The Scots are a perfect 14-0 all-time against Stephens College and hold a 15-3 advantage in the all-time series against William Woods.

UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS

Following Saturday's game against William Woods, the Scots will conclude their four-game home stand on Jan. 4 against Central Baptist College at 1 p.m.
