BATESVILLE, Ark. – Just over two weeks ago, the Lyon College women's basketball team and Philander Smith College squared off on Nov. 26 in Little Rock, Ark. The Scots came away with a 71-64 victory against the Lady Panthers and will now host their portion of a home-and-home series with PSC on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off for Saturday's game between the 21st-ranked Scots and [RV] Lady Panthers will be at noon in Becknell Gymnasium.
THE MATCHUP
LYON: The Scots enter Saturday's contest at 8-1 on the year. In the first meeting against PSC, Liz Henderson netted a game-high 26 points, with 18 of them coming in the second half. She earned her first-career American Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor following that outing. Henderson is currently averaging 13.2 points per game, which is the third most for the Scots this season. Madison Riley leads the team with 16.4 points per game, while Katie Turner and Jade Giron are also averaging double figures in scoring at 13.2 and 10.9 points per game, respectively.
PSC: Philander Smith College sports a record of 12-2 on the year. Ciara Pettis currently leads the NAIA in total points scored this season (222) and ranks 10th in the country, averaging 18.5 points per game. Another scoring threat for the Lady Panthers is Terralyn Dominick, who is averaging 15.0 points per game. Rakia Lane and Vivan Imarenezor are also averaging double figures in scoring this season at 12.8 and 12.0 points per game, respectively.
SERIES HISTORY
The Scots are 23-4 all-time against the Lady Panthers, which includes the 71-64 win earlier this season at PSC.
