BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College volleyball team hosts Hannibal-LaGrange University for Senior Day on Friday, November 8
th at 7:00 p.m. This will be Lyon's final regular season match inside Becknell Gymnasium this season. Before the match, the Scots will recognize their six seniors –
Destiny Nunez,
Ellie Embry,
Iva Popovic,
Gracen Ratliff,
Kendra Kelley, and
Michayla Shanks – for their hard work and dedication throughout their careers.
The Matchup
Hannibal-LaGrange University: The Trojans are 4-24 overall and 3-7 in conference play this season. Janine Crooks leads HLG with 209 kills, while Shirah Foor has recorded a team-high 444 assists during the 2019 campaign. Amber Glazebrook and Ashlyn Spay headline the Trojans' defense as Glazebrook has compiled a team-best 496 digs, and Spay has added 48 total blocks.
Lyon College: The Scots come into this matchup sporting a 19-14 record and 6-5 mark in American Midwest Conference action.
Michayla Shanks paces Lyon with 271 kills, 263 digs, and 56 aces.
Kendra Kelley and
Gracen Ratliff have also played terrific volleyball this season as they follow closely behind Shanks with 267 and 233 kills, respectively.
Alley Edwards is close to eclipsing the 200-kill plateau as she is just 11 shy of recording 200 kills during her freshman campaign. The duo of
Kaitlyn Jackson and
Ellie Embry continue to lead the Scots in assists as Jackson has tallied 506, while Embry has accumulated 469 assists. Defensively,
Maria Eleni Bampiri has added 66 total blocks this season.
Series History
Lyon has bested the Trojans in each of the previous six meetings between the squads. In the most recent matchup on Sept. 29, 2018, the Scots overwhelmed HLG in four sets (25-15, 24-26, 25-14, 25-19).
