No. 20 Women’s Basketball Prepares for First Two Conference Games

The 20th-ranked Lyon College women’s basketball team will open up American Midwest Conference play this weekend at home

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 20th-ranked Lyon College women's basketball team went 1-1 last weekend at the College of the Ozarks Classic in its final tune-up before conference play. The Scots will play in their first two American Midwest Conference games of the year this weekend in Becknell Gymnasium. Lyon will host Lindenwood-Belleville on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., and Missouri Baptist on Saturday at 1 p.m.

THE MATCHUP
LYON:
The Scots enter this weekend's matchups against LUB and MBU at 2-1 overall. This past weekend at the CofO Classic, Lyon defeated John Brown, 67-56, before falling to No. 3 (NAIA Division II) College of the Ozarks, 74-62. Madison Riley is the top scorer for the Scots this season, averaging 18.3 points per game. Katie Turner is second on the team, averaging 14 points per game. Turner recorded her first double-double of the season against CofO as she finished with a career-high 22 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Jade Giron and Liz Henderson are also averaging double figures in scoring at 11.7 and 10 points per game, respectively.

LUB: Lindenwood-Belleville enters the weekend at 2-1 overall. The Lady Lynx last played on Nov. 12, when the suffered an 85-61 loss at No. 12 Central Methodist. LUB rosters one of the top scorers in the nation through the first few games of the season in Brianna Mueller. Mueller ranks second in the NAIA in scoring at 23.3 points per game. Mueller is also second on the team in rebounding, averaging 5.7 boards per game. Kyndra Morgan is the only other player for LUB averaging double figures in scoring at 11.7 points per game.

MBU: Missouri Baptist is currently 0-3 on the season and will play at Central Baptist College on Thursday night prior to making the trip to Batesville on Saturday. Tionne Taylor leads a trio of Spartans averaging double figures in scoring at 17 points per game. Alexis Allstun is second on the team in scoring at 12.3 points per game and leads MBU in rebounding at 7.3 boards per game. Taylor Norris is third on the team in scoring at 11.3 points per game.

SERIES HISTORY
The Scots are 12-0 all-time against Lindenwood-Belleville and 17-0 all-time against Missouri Baptist.

UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
Following this weekend's games against LUB and MBU, the 20th-ranked Lyon College women's basketball team will travel to Philander Smith College for a non-conference game on Nov. 26 at 5 p.m.
