ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Hornets of Harris-Stowe State University used a pair of goals in each half to defeat the Lyon College women's soccer team by a score of 4-1 on Saturday.
Lyon moves to 5-6 overall, 2-4 in the AMC, while Harris-Stowe State University improves to 9-1-1 overall, 6-0 in the AMC.
GAME FLOW
The Hornets got on the board first in the 11
th minute. Yuliana Miranda Noyola delivered a nice pass to Lizette Popoca. Popoca struck a shot that snuck into the back of the net, giving HSSU a 1-0 advantage. The Hornets would tack on a goal in the 22
nd minute, doubling HSSU's advantage. The score would remain 2-0 in favor of the Hornets as the halftime whistle sounded.
The Hornets scored the first goal of the second half. In the 67
th minute, Izabella Tedesco scored her fourth goal of the season. HSSU would score once more on a shot by Johanna Vehlow. The Scots would respond with a goal of their own in the 81
st minute as
Tabetha Troxler delivered a great pass to
Hailey Gonzales. Gonzales struck a shot into the back of the net, making the score 4-1 in favor of Harris-Stowe. The Scots ran out of time in this one and fell to the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets by a score of 4-1 on Saturday.
