ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Lyon College men's soccer team used four first-half goals and one second-half goal to defeat Harris-Stowe State University by a score of 5-1 Saturday afternoon.
Lyon moves to 8-4-1 overall, 4-1-1 in the AMC, while Harris-Stowe State University falls to 3-7 overall, 2-4 in the AMC.
GAME FLOW
The Scots wasted no time in this one as
Rafael Santos delivered a great pass to
Estiven Garcia. Garcia struck a shot past the keeper and into the back of the net, giving Lyon a 1-0 lead. The Hornets knotted the match at one in the 16
th minute on a goal by Justin Donovan. Lyon's
Rafael Santos, then, scored a pair of goals to untie the match and put the Scots up 3-1. Santos's first goal was in the 17
th minute and second goal was set up by
Emanuel Santos in the 21
st minute. Lyon would tack on one more goal late in the first half. In the 29
th minute,
Leo Galdino delivered a nice ball to
Estiven Garcia. Garcia struck a shot into the back of the net, putting the Scots up 4-1 as the halftime whistle sounded.
The Scots scored the lone goal of the second half. In the 89
th minute,
Thei Tlo scored his third goal of the year, giving the Scots a 5-1 lead. The defense of the Scots excelled all afternoon as Lyon defeated Harris-Stowe State University by a score of 5-1 on Saturday.
