Scots Upset Spartans, 3-2

Lyon Men’s Soccer Defeated (RV) Missouri Baptist University, 3-2, on Saturday

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Lyon College men's soccer team used three second-half goals to come back and defeat (RV) Missouri Baptist University by a score of 3-2 Saturday afternoon.

Lyon moves to 9-4-1 overall, 5-1-1 in the AMC, while Missouri Baptist University falls to 8-3-2 overall, 3-2-1 in the AMC. 
 
GAME FLOW 
Missouri Baptist got on the board first in the 11th minute. MBU's Louie Perez struck a shot into the back of the net, scoring his sixth goal on the season and giving the hosts a 1-0 lead. The Spartans would take a one-goal lead into the half. In the first 45 minutes, Lyon outshot MBU, 8-4.

The Scots answered back early in the second half. In the 51st minute, Vitor Fujiwara stepped up and converted the penalty kick, knotting the match at one. The match would remain tied until the 78th minute. MBU's Mattia Giangrande delivered a pass to Jona Oesterling. Oesterling took a shot that beat the keeper, giving the Spartans a 2-1 lead. Lyon responded right back as Emanuel Santos found a cutting Leo Galdino. Galdino struck a shot past the outstretched arms of the MBU goalkeeper, knotting the match at two with just over 12 minutes left. In the 86th minute, Lyon earned a corner kick. Emanuel Santos took the corner kick and delivered a brilliant cross into the box. Rafael Santos got on the end of it and headed a shot past the keeper and into the back of the net, giving the Scots their first lead in the contest. The Spartans pushed more guys forward, but the defense of the Scots remained strong to defeat (RV) Missouri Baptist University by a score of 3-2 Saturday afternoon.
