MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Lyon College volleyball team put its three-match win streak on the line in a non-conference contest tonight against Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee. The Scots battled the Lady Wildcats all night long, but BU proved to be too much for the visitors from Batesville as they defeated Lyon in straight sets (25-21, 25-11, 26-24).
Lyon moves to 17-13 on the season and 5-4 in American Midwest Conference play, while Bethel University improves to 15-11 during the 2019 campaign.
GAME FLOW
The Scots jumped out to a 4-1 lead to begin the first frame. The Lady Wildcats, though, answered quickly with a 5-1 run to take their first lead of the game at 6-5. Both sides continued to exchange points as Bethel clung to a 20-19 lead late in the first stanza. The Lady Wildcats used a timely 5-2 run to win the first set, 25-21.
In the second frame, Bethel jetted out to a 15-4 advantage. The Scots showed resolve as they fought back the remainder of the set, but the Lady Wildcats took the second set to take a two-set advantage as the sides entered the third frame.
The third set featured five lead changes and seven ties. Bethel University held a slim 24-23 advantage as they looked to seal the victory over the visitors from Batesville. However, the Scots responded as Lyon earned the next point to knot the score at 24 apiece. The Lady Wildcats, though, won the next two rallies to take the third set, 26-24, and complete the sweep.
KEY STATISTICS

Kendra Kelley registered her third consecutive double-double as she tallied a team-high 12 kills and 14 digs.

Ellie Embry finished the contest with a team-best 15 assists.

Kaitlyn Jackson recorded a pair of aces tonight.

WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE SCOTS
The Scots travel to Missouri to resume conference play on Nov. 1-2. Lyon will battle No. 7 Columbia College on Friday at 4:00 p.m. The next day, the Scots will square off against Stephens College and University of St. Mary on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
