BOONVILLE, Mo. - The Lyon College women's soccer team fought hard, but ultimately fell to Stephens College on Tuesday by a score of 1-0. The Stars scored the lone goal in the second half, which proved to be the difference maker in the match.
Lyon is now 7-8 on the season, 4-6 in the AMC, while Stephens College moves to 6-10 overall, 3-7 in the AMC.
GAME FLOW
The Scots generated chances in the first half, but were unable to get on the board in the first 45 minutes. As the halftime whistle sounded, the match remained scoreless. Lyon outshot Stephens, 12-2 in the first half.
In the second half, each team continued to produce chances. However, it was Stephens College who would strike first. In the 71
st minute, Anya Castelli scored off a free kick, giving the Stars a 1-0 lead. The Scots sent more players forward to try to knot the match at one. Lyon was unable to find the equalizer and fell to Stephens College by a score of 1-0 Tuesday afternoon.
