Scots Cruise Past Trojans on Senior Day, 4-1

Lyon Women’s Soccer Defeated Hannibal-LaGrange University on Saturday, 4-1

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College women's soccer team used one first-half goal and three second-half goals to defeat Hannibal-LaGrange University by a score of 4-1 on Senior Day. 

Lyon moves to 7-7 overall, 4-5 in the AMC, while Hannibal-LaGrange University falls to 1-9-1 overall, 0-7-1 in the AMC. 
 
GAME FLOW 
The Scots wasted no time in this one as Sarah Evans took a corner kick just a minute into the match. The ball bounced around in the box, before Darby Blaylock was able to poke it past the keeper and into the back of the net, giving Lyon a 1-0 lead. The match would remain 1-0 in favor of Lyon after the first 45 minutes of action. Lyon outshot HLG, 20-0, in the first half.

The second half started very similar to the first as Darby Blaylock took a shot from just outside the box a couple minutes into the half. The HLG goalie got a hand on it, but Hailey Gonzales was there for the rebound and slid the ball into the back of the net, doubling Lyon's advantage. The Scots were not done there as Lyon earned a corner kick just five minutes later. Darby Blaylock took the corner and delivered a brilliant cross into the box. Sarah Evans got on the end of it and flicked a shot into the upper right corner of the goal, giving Lyon a 3-0 lead. The Trojans answered back with a goal of their own off a header by Samantha Pikaard in the 73rd minute, trimming Lyon's lead to two. Lyon would tack on a late goal as Elena Cervantes played a nice ball outside to Emma Brandes. Brandes took a couple dribbles and rocketed a shot past the outstretched arms of the goalie into the top portion of the net, giving the Scots a 4-1 victory over HLG Saturday afternoon.
