BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College volleyball team hosted a tri-match against Tougaloo College and NCAA Division II University of Arkansas at Monticello inside Becknell Gymnasium this afternoon. The Scots triumphed over Tougaloo College in straight sets, but were topped by the University of Arkansas at Monticello in the nightcap.

With the results, Lyon moves to 14-11 on the season and 4-4 in conference play. TC falls to 5-18, while UAM improves to 7-13.   

GAME FLOW 
Tougaloo College
The Scots were aggressive early and often in this matchup as Lyon jumped out to a 9-3 lead after a Kendra Kelley kill, assisted by Ellie Embry. Lyon kept up their stellar play and cruised to an easy first-set victory, 25-11.  

The second frame was the most competitive set of the match as the hosts and Lady Bulldogs were knotted at 9. Lyon quickly regained the lead and never looked back, taking the second stanza by a score of 25-17.

The Scots used an early 6-0 run to take a 9-3 advantage against TC early in the third set. The Lady Bulldogs fought back, but Lyon was up to the task as the Scots won 10 of the final 12 rallies to take the third set, 25-15, and complete the sweep.

Arkansas Monticello
The Scots recorded the first three points of the match to take a 3-0 advantage over UAM. The Weevils responded by retaking the lead at 6-5. Both sides would exchange leads until UAM used a 4-0 run to take a 16-13 advantage. On two separate occasions Lyon cut the Weevils' lead to just one point, but the Scots could not get the crucial point, falling in the first set by a score of 25-19.

The second set was another tight one as UAM held a slim 10-9 advantage over the Scots early in the frame. The Weevils went on a 7-2 run to give them some cushion against Lyon, 17-11. Lyon battled back and cut the lead to two on an ace by Ellie Embry, 17-15. UAM, though, won the next three points and would go on to claim the second set, 25-21.

In the third stanza, the Weevils sprinted out to a 12-4 lead. Lyon tried to claw their way back into the set, but the visitors were too much tonight as UAM earned the sweep with a 25-14 third-set victory.

 - Kendra Kelley tallied 11 kills and 8 digs in the victory.
 - Michayla Shanks was terrific from the service line, notching 5 aces.
 - The Scots overpowered TC in aces, 13-2, and kills, 28-16.
 
Arkansas Monticello
 - Kendra Kelley recorded 10 kills and 9 digs, while Michayla Shanks also etched 10 kills.
 - Alley Edwards tallied a team-high 3 blocks.
 - UAM edged Lyon in kills, 38-34, and aces, 8-6.

Lyon hosts NCAA Division II Harding University tomorrow inside Becknell Gymnasium. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
