ST. LOUIS – The 19th-ranked Lyon College women's basketball team opened up its three-game American Midwest Conference road trip with a 98-54 win at St. Louis College Pharmacy on Thursday night. The win marked the 100th-career victory for seniors Samantha French, Ali Tucker and Tressa Linson.
The Scots, now winners of six straight, improved to 18-3 (14-2 AMC), while STLCOP fell to 6-17 (2-15 AMC).
Lyon took control of the game with a big first quarter as the Scots outscored the Eutectics, 21-5. After a bucket by Liz Henderson gave the Scots a 9-5 advantage with 4:57 left in the quarter, Lyon held STLCOP scoreless the remainder of the period and took a 16-point advantage.
The Scots continued to roll offensively in the second quarter as Katie Turner opened up the scoring for Lyon with a bucket, followed by two points from Kaleah Davis, three from Keli Romas and six points by Oumy Ndoye to put the Scots ahead, 34-10. The Scots took their largest lead of the quarter on their next possession with another two points from Turner. STLCOP managed to trim the deficit down to 19, but the Scots ended the quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 47-22 lead at the half.
Lyon put up 30 points on the Eutectics in the third quarter before taking its largest lead in the game midway through the fourth quarter on a free throw by Davis to give the Scots a 95-48 advantage.
Five Scots – Turner, Madison Riley (14), Ali Tucker (12), Davis (12) and Henderson (10) – all finished in double-digits scoring. Henderson added 10 rebounds in the win to secure her second double-double of the season.
The Scots will return to action when they face Missouri Baptist on the road on Saturday at 1 p.m.
