BATESVILLE, Ark. – The milestones keep coming for the 22nd-ranked Lyon College women's basketball team. Just one game after Madison Riley became the 18th player to score 1,000 points in a career, fellow junior, Liz Henderson, joined her as she became the 19th player to join the prestigious club as the Scots knocked off Hannibal-LaGrange, 74-34, in American Midwest Conference action on Saturday afternoon. Lyon improved to 14-3 (10-2 AMC), while HLG dropped to 3-16 (1-12 AMC).
The Trojans kept pace with the Scots in the opening minutes of the game as a jumper by Kylee Elmore tied the score at 5-5, but a three-pointer by Ali Tuckergave Lyon some separation. Leading 19-7, Lyon forced a missed shot by the Trojans. Henderson went on to corral the loose ball as the Scots worked the ball around on the offensive end of the court. Lizzie Allgood found Henderson around the basket as Henderson's bucket put her in the 1,000-point club. Marleigh Dodson added one more basket for the Scots before HLG closed the opening quarter on a three-pointer by Rhiannon Runyon to put the score at 23-10 in favor of the Scots.
Lyon opened the second quarter on an 11-0 run after getting contribution from Samantha French, Katie Turner, Riley, Casey Wallace and Henderson to extend its lead to 34-10 over the Trojans. HLG did all of its scoring in the final four minutes of the quarter, but the Scots found themselves with a 44-18 lead at the break after a pair of free throws by Tressa Linson.
The third quarter was all Lyon as the Scots outscored the Trojans, 19-1, in the period. The Scots held HLG scoreless for over nine minutes in the quarter until the Trojans hit a free throw with just under a minute left to play.
HLG managed to bounce back in the fourth quarter, but the game was already out of hand.
French set a new career high as she led all scorers with 22 points in the game, while Riley chipped in 11. Elmore led the Trojans with a team-high 15 points.
Prior to the game, Riley was honored for scoring her 1,000th point this past Monday at Lindenwood-Belleville.

The Scots will prepare for their toughest challenge of the season as they will go on the road on Tuesday night and take on No. 1-nationally ranked Freed-Hardeman at 5:30 p.m. in Henderson, Tenn.
