GAME FLOW
Hannibal-LaGrange University:
Even though it was a home contest for HLG, Lyon took the crowd out of the match early as the Scots won the first set 25-15. However, the Trojans stormed back in the second set narrowly winning 26-24, knotting the score at 1-1. Lyon jumped out to an early advantage in the third set and rode their momentum to a 25-14 third set victory. Lyon volleyball continued their strong play on both offense and defense in the fourth set, storming out to a 12-5 advantage. HLG would fight back, though, cutting the deficit to only two. However, the Scots were up to the task as Lyon extended the lead and won the fourth set 25-19. Several Lyon players had stellar individual performances, highlighted by Ellie Embry (26 assists), Madisson Williams (24 digs), and Michayla Shanks (18 kills on an impressive .391 hitting percentage).
Lincoln College:
The Lynx were fresh in this matchup as this was their first match of the day, while it was the second match of the day for the Scots. However, Lyon used the momentum they gained from their first win of the day over HLG to take the first set against the Lynx 25-16. Lyon used aggresive serving, precise offensive play, and stellar defense to defeat the Lynx in the next two sets as well to finish the day with two convincing wins. The Scots put up some amazing offensive numbers today, especially Michayla Shanks finishing the day with 26 kills, 10 digs, 3 aces, and 3 blocks, while Ellie Embry etched a total of 48 assists in the two matches.
KEY STATISTICS
Hannibal-LaGrange University:
- Michayla Shanks and Kendra Kelley overpowered the Trojans with 18 and 14 kills, respectively.
- Ellie Embry (26) and Kaitlyn Jackson (16) set up their teammates all afternoon with great passes as they combined for 42 assists in the match.
- Madisson Williams had another terrific defensive performance as she registered 24 digs.
- The Scots recorded 23 more kills and 14 more digs than HLG.
Lincoln College:
- Three Scots tied for the lead in kills as Michayla Shanks, Kendra Kelley, and Gracen Ratliff each registered 8 over just three sets in this match.
- The Lynx could not find any opening against the Scots' defense as Madisson Williams recorded a total of 18 digs.
- Ellie Embry and Kaitlyn Jackson passed tremendously all day as they finished with 22 and 14 assists in this match, respectively.
- Lyon bested Lincoln College in kills 43-27 and aces 8-2.

WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE SCOTS
The Scots will return home for the Lyon College Tri-Match on Tuesday. Lyon will battle Tougaloo College at 3 p.m. and Crowley's Ridge College at 7 p.m. The following day, the Scots will host Philander Smith College at 7:00 p.m.
