Lyon and C of O exchanged points early in the opening match, but C of O was able to find its rhythm and win the first set 25-18. The Lady Bobcats rode that momentum they gained from winnning the first set to a 25-14 victory in the second set to give them a 2-0 advantage. The third set went back and forth. However, the trio of Alex Spears, Ryley Thixton, and Kayli Grant proved to be too much for the Scots as those three combined for 25 kills on the night to help the Lady Bobcats win the third set 27-25.
KEY STATISTICS
- Ellie Embry finished with 14 assists and 6 digs.
- Gracen Ratliff led Lyon with 8 kills, while Michayla Shanks chipped in with 7.
- Madisson Williams recorded a team high 14 digs.
- C of O bested the Scots in kills 37-31.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE SCOTS
Lyon competes in the Philander-Smith College Volleyball Classic in Little Rock, Arkansas, August 31 and September 1. The Scots will face Texas College at 2 p.m. and Jarvis Christian College at 6 p.m. on August 31. The following day, Lyon will face Tougaloo College at 10 a.m. and Philander-Smith College at 2 p.m.
