Lyon College

Wes Hart

Wes Hart joined the Lyon Volleyball coaching staff full-time for his first season in 2018, although he is not a newcomer to the program. Hart had been an assistant coach with the team each of the last two seasons on a volunteer basis until being promoted to full-time prior to this year’s campaign.

Hart received his Bachelor of Science degree from the New England School of Communications in Bangor, Maine in 2012. With a concentration in sports journalism and broadcasting, Hart held multiple jobs in the sports journalism and broadcasting field while in school and after graduation. He did play-by-play and sports reporting for author Stephen King’s radio station WZON-AM620, and also produced and hosted an afternoon sports talk show on ESPN affiliate 92.9FM-The Ticket before moving to Arkansas in 2016.

While in school at NESCOM and continuing afterward, Hart was an assistant coach for parts of four years with the Husson University women’s volleyball team, an NCAA Division III school in Bangor, ME. In his first season with the team, he helped guide the Eagles to an appearance in the North Atlantic Conference championship match. Hart was also an assistant in the Sports Information Department during his time at Husson, broadcasting games for all the teams and doing public address announcing as well as stat work for all sports.

Hart also coaches for the White River Juniors volleyball club based out of Batesville, Arkansas. For the past two seasons, he has been a head coach at the 16U level, and will be leading a 17U team for the upcoming club season.

Along with his fellow Lyon coaches, Hart has also worked with USA Volleyball’s Delta Region High-Performance volleyball program for the last two years, evaluating and coaching high school players that are looking to move on and play at the collegiate level.

When he’s not coaching, Hart enjoys playing volleyball whenever he can whether it be indoors, on grass, or on sand. He travels around the region to play in tournaments when time allows, and also plays in the USA Volleyball Adult Open National Championships with a team of friends from Maine.
