Adam Trausch was hired in 2017 to relaunch the cross country programs at Lyon College, with track & field added later that same year. In 2022, he expanded his responsibilities to include compliance duties as co-compliance coordinator.
Since joining Lyon, Trausch has guided the programs through steady growth and competitive success at both the conference and national levels. In 2021, he mentored NAIA Cross Country National Qualifier Clare Wilber, who ran a personal best at the national meet. In 2023, Kacie Teruya earned USCAA Second Team All-America honors at the National Championship, and both Teruya and Gavin Bush were named USCAA Student-Athletes of the Year. That same year, the women’s cross country team was honored as the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team and placed sixth at the USCAA National Championships.
Trausch has coached two conference Newcomers of the Year, one Field Athlete of the Meet, and four conference champions. His athletes have achieved 35 all-conference performances and earned 15 conference or national Athlete of the Week honors. Academically, his teams are consistently recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams, and he has coached one Academic All-American.
In 2022, Trausch was named the American Midwest Conference Coach of Character, and in 2024, he and his staff were recognized as the USCAA Men's Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Trausch serves on Lyon’s Staff Council and is the staff representative to the Board of Trustees.
Before Lyon, Trausch was an assistant coach at Defiance College, UW-Oshkosh, and Wisconsin Lutheran College. He coached the HCAC Track Athlete of the Year and assisted 2015 WIAC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year Eamon McKenna. That season, the UW-Oshkosh women’s team placed 15th nationally, and the men finished 13th, with Jordan Carpenter receiving the prestigious Elite 90 Award for highest GPA at the national meet.
Trausch is a 2011 graduate of Davenport University, where he earned a degree in business administration with a concentration in health service administration. He later completed a Master of Arts in High Performance Instruction from Wisconsin Lutheran College. As a student-athlete, Trausch was the first runner in program history at Davenport and was a four-time WHAC All-Conference performer and Daktronics Scholar-Athlete.
He holds a USATF Level 1 Certification and is a member of the USTFCCCA. In 2006, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. Trausch resides in Batesville, Arkansas.
