Harry Bridgers III, a dynamic and driven football coach, joins Lyon College as the Tight Ends Coach. This marks his first year with the team, where he aims to impart his expertise and ignite a passion for excellence in the tight ends.
Before joining Lyon College, Coach Bridgers achieved remarkable success at Dunbar Senior High School in Washington D.C. In his role as Special Teams Coordinator, he skillfully improved the team's scoring, kick returns, punt returns, and points allowed. Through implementing enhanced techniques and strategic game adjustments, Bridgers led the Special Teams to an outstanding season. Notably, the team did not allow any kick return touchdowns, limited punt return touchdowns to just one, and blocked no punts. Bridgers also played a pivotal role in mentoring DCIAA Player of the Year and Return Specialist Micheal Brown, who made significant contributions with 503 total return yards and a punt return touchdown.
On top of his exceptional work with Special Teams, Coach Bridgers also held the role of Defensive Back Coach. His guidance resulted in an impressive defensive back group with two 2nd Team All-League Defensive Backs, Saki Frost and Tyshawn Batts. Under his leadership, the defensive backs secured 11 interceptions, with five returned for scores, while allowing only 802 passing yards for the entire season, a notable 22% decrease from the previous year.
Harry Bridgers brings a wealth of experience and success from his playing days as well. As a three-year letterman at Susquehanna University, he earned victories in three Centennial MAC bowl games under the guidance of Defensive Back Coach and Former NFL Veteran Alan Zemaitis. During his high school days at Friendship Collegiate Academy, Bridgers played alongside defensive back Jalen Tabor, who went on to become a 2nd round pick in the NFL from the University of Florida.
Bridgers' passion for the game and his commitment to developing young athletes align perfectly with Lyon College's football program. As Tight Ends Coach, he is excited to impart his knowledge, dedication, and winning mentality to inspire the tight ends to reach their full potential on and off the field.
