Lyon College

Derrick Hintz comes to Lyon College with 19 years of collegiate football coaching experience and will coach linebackers for the Scots.
 
Hintz, from Byron, Minnesota, has been apart of teams that have achieved 10 conference championships, 12 post-season bowl games and two national championships during his career. He coached from 1995 to 2021 at Rochester Community Technical College in Rochester, Minnesota.
 
While at Rochester CTC, Hintz was head football coach since 2011 and served as defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator. He led his team to state championships for 10 straight seasons and were national champions in 2000 and 2007.
 
Hintz was NJCAA region XIII Football Coach of the Year in 20011 and 2012. He was also a Rochester Area Sports Commission Coach of the Year finalist in 2012.
