BATESVILLE, Arkansas - Lyon College Athletics is pleased to announce that Corey Briggs, a Lima, Ohio native, is set to join the Lyon College football staff as the Defensive Backs Coach and Service Coordinator.

With a wealth of coaching experience, Briggs is set to bring his expertise and enthusiasm to the team for the upcoming season. Briggs earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from Ohio Northern University in May 2019, showcasing his dedication to understanding the physiological aspects of athletic performance. Continuing his education at The Ohio State University, he achieved a Master of Science in Sport Coaching in May 2021, solidifying his coaching skills and knowledge.

In his recent role as the Defensive Backs Coach and Video Coordinator at Ohio Northern University from April 2023 to January 2024, Briggs excelled in coaching and instructing defensive backs. His coaching prowess contributed to the success of a 2023 Defensive Back 1st Team All-American. Additionally, Briggs played a pivotal role in developing a strategic defensive pass game plan and overseeing the breakdown of all defensive film, ensuring a comprehensive approach to team analysis.

Before his stint at Ohio Northern University, Briggs served as a Defensive Assistant at Notre Dame College, where he coached and instructed Nickels and Safeties while overseeing recruiting efforts in Northwest Ohio and Michigan.

Prior to his collegiate coaching experience, Briggs gained valuable high school coaching experience as the Head Football Coach at Cory-Rawson High School, creating a positive culture for players and coaches. His responsibilities included managing the football budget, recruiting boosters, overseeing coordinators' game plans, evaluating players through film breakdown, and creating comprehensive workout plans for the off-season, pre-season, and in-season.

Briggs began his coaching journey at Bellefontaine High School, where he served as the Defensive Back and Strength and Conditioning Coach. In this role, he instructed cornerbacks on technique and strategy, contributed to game plans for defending opposing teams' passing games, and played a vital role in player evaluations through film breakdown.

His commitment to strength and conditioning is evident in his roles as an Administrative Strength and Conditioning Intern at The Ohio State University and a Football Intern in Strength and Conditioning at the University of Oregon. In these positions, Briggs assisted with the implementation of strength training and conditioning plans for Olympic teams, showcasing his dedication to the holistic development of athletes.

As the new Defensive Backs Coach and Service Coordinator at Lyon College, Corey Briggs is committed to leveraging his comprehensive coaching experience, educational background, and passion for the game to contribute to the success of the football program. His ability to coach, strategize, and develop players makes him a valuable addition to the coaching staff and an asset to Lyon College athletics as a whole.
