Kent will serve as the strength and conditioning and defensive backs coach.
Kent played football collegiately at James Madison University. He was a member of the 2004 NCAA I-AA National Championship team. A highly decorated athlete, Kent was named as a College Sports Report All-American, first-team All-Atlantic 10 honoree, team captain, and the team’s most valuable player in 2005. He finished his career as JMU’s all-time interceptions leader.
He went on to play professionally from 2006-13. Kent played for the Edmonton Eskimos, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. He was also a member of the Porvoo Butchers of the European Football League and the Peoria Pirates of the Arena Football League.
After finishing his playing career, Kent began coaching at Westside High School in Macon, Ga. At Westside, Kent served as the secondary coach and the co-special teams coordinator. He received the opportunity to coach in the GSA East/West High School All-Star Game in 2015, where he served as the defensive coordinator, secondary coach and co-special teams coordinator. Kent then added defensive coordinator and strength coordinator to his role at Westside.
After Westside, Kent served as the defensive coordinator for the Fundamental Sound Sports 7 vs. 7 Travel Team. Every player that Kent coached directly signed a scholarship to play football at an FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) school.
