Irving, TX - Facing off against the Paul Quinn College Tigers and the University of Dallas Crusaders, Scots were unable to get the win. Falling to both the Tigers (22-25,17-25,8-5) and Crusaders (15-25,18-25,23-25) in three sets. Lyon is 0-5 on the season.

Lyon 0, Paul Quinn 3
The opening set stayed tight from the start, with kills by
Sofia Santis,
Keeley Beary, and
Reyleigh Twist helping the Scots move in front 4-2 before Paul Quinn tied it at 5-5. The Scots went back ahead 7-5 on Twist's service ace, but Paul Quinn kept answering, and the teams traded points through a 20-20 tie as Beary,
Morgan Harrelson,
Pascha Wistrand, Neveah Ghan, and Twist supplied kills for the Scots. Paul Quinn scored consecutive points to move ahead 22-20, and after Ghan's kill brought the Scots within 23-22, Paul Quinn took the last two points to close the set 25-22.
The Scots scored the opening point on Wistrand's kill from
Jenna Good, and later erased a 7-5 Paul Quinn edge when Twist put down a kill and an attack error tied the set at 7-7. Paul Quinn controlled the next stretch, scoring 11 straight points with two aces and additional kills to make it 18-7. Ghan's kill from
Olivia Locke and a block by Ghan and Beary helped the Scots trim the deficit to 21-12, but Paul Quinn answered with a kill and a Scots setting error to go up 23-12. After Beary's kill made it 23-13, the Scots added four straight points on kills by
Ryan Russell and Twist and an attack error while Santis served, before Paul Quinn put down the final two kills to finish the set 25-17.
Paul Quinn scored the first four points of the third set, and after a Twist kill from Locke brought the Scots within 5-2, Paul Quinn put together a seven-point stretch that included kills and two block-assisted Scots attack errors to move ahead 12-2.
Payton Ashley ended that run with a kill from
Ella Gardner, but Paul Quinn answered with four straight points behind an ace, a kill, and another Scots attack error for a 16-3 lead. The Scots got points on a Paul Quinn bad set, a service error, a Beary kill from Locke, and an attack error to reach 20-7, but Paul Quinn took five of the final six points, with Beary adding another kill before a block on the final point finished the set 25-8.
Beary led the Scots with nine kills, hit .286, and added one block assist. Twist finished with seven kills, one service ace, and five digs. Gardner recorded a team-high 13 assists and added five digs. Locke collected a team-best 12 digs and chipped in four assists.
Lyon 0, University of Dallas 3
Scots built a 7-4 lead behind three early kills from
Keeley Beary, plus kills by
Reyleigh Twist and
Ryan Russell. Crusaders answered with five straight points, tying the set and moving ahead 9-7, before two
Morgan Harrelson kills helped Scots pull even at 11-11. Crusaders scored the next six points, with three kills and serving two aces during the stretch to make it 17-11.
Chaney McCance's ace and
Pascha Wistrand's kill brought Scots within 18-15, but Crusaders closed the set with seven consecutive points, including three kills, for a 25-15 finish.
Scots worked out of an early 3-1 hole in the second set, tying it on Beary's ace and later moving in front 6-4 on
Jenna Good's ace and a Twist kill. Crusaders answered with a serving stretch to go ahead 8-6 and later scored five of six points to build a 14-10 edge, but Scots came back with five straight points, including Beary's kill to tie it at 14-14 before a Crusaders attack error put Scots up 15-14. The teams traded points until Good's ace gave Scots an 18-17 lead, but Crusaders scored the final eight points, closing the set 25-18 behind pressure from serve, with two blocks and a kill to take it.
After Crusaders moved in front 12-7 behind an ace and a kill, Scots cut the deficit to 12-10 on Harrelson's kill, McCance's ace, and a Crusaders attack error. Wistrand and Neveah Ghan helped Scots stay within 13-12, but Crusaders created separation again with kills before stretching the set to 21-15 on a kill and an ace. Russell's kill gave Scots the serve at 21-16, and Good served four straight points, including an ace before Twist's kill brought Scots within 21-20. Crusaders answered with kills, and after Wistrand's kill and a Harrelson block brought Scots to 23-22, Harris helped Crusaders reach set point before finishing the set at 25-23.
Beary led Scots with 9.5 points, tying for the team lead with six kills while hitting .333 and adding two aces and two blocks. Harrelson also recorded six kills and posted two solo blocks, a season-high total for her. Good finished with 10 assists and three service aces. McCance matched the team high with three service aces, a season-high for her, and added eight digs.
Scots will be back in action on Friday, September 11th competing in Rhodes College Invitational starting at 12:00 PM. They will face the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, University of Ozarks, and hosting Rhodes College.
