CONWAY, AR. — The Lyon College Scots women's soccer team battled the Hendrix College Warriors last Wednesday night but were unable to find the back of the net, falling 2-0. With the loss, the Scots move to 0-3-1 on the season.

The Scots recorded four shots in the match, with one finding its way on goal. Lilly Barr led Lyon with one shot on goal, while Alli Barnes, Katelyn Balderas, and Michelle Espinoza each added a shot. Sydney Wolf played all 90 minutes in goal for the Scots, making five saves while allowing two goals.

Hendrix came out applying pressure early, earning two corner kicks within the opening 14 minutes and putting several shots toward the Lyon goal. Wolf and the Scots defense kept the Warriors off the scoreboard until the 26th minute, when Hendrix converted a penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead at 26:38.

Wolf made her first save of the match at 30:28, stopping a shot directed toward the bottom center of the goal. Lyon earned its first corner kick of the match at 43:17, and Barnes followed with a shot at 44:42 that went wide. The Scots entered halftime trailing 1-0.

Down 1-0, Lyon looked to even the score early in the second half, but Hendrix doubled its advantage at 48:40 to make it 2-0.

The Scots continued to create opportunities as the half progressed. Espinoza sent a shot wide at 56:06 before Barr tested the Hendrix goalkeeper at 66:53, forcing a save. Balderas came close to cutting into the deficit at 74:15 when her shot struck the woodwork.

Wolf continued to keep the Scots within striking distance, making several saves during a stretch of pressure late in the match, including stops at 74:59 and 75:44. Lyon continued to battle through the final minutes, but was unable to find a goal as Hendrix held on for the 2-0 victory.

As a team, Lyon finished with four shots compared to Hendrix's 16, while the Warriors held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Scots also recorded six fouls to Hendrix's 19.

Lyon College women's soccer will return to action this Saturday, September 26th to face the Greenville College Panthers on Huser Field at 3:00 PM.
