Scots end a long week with a strong 2-1 win over Millsaps

Batesville, AR – Scots men's soccer ends their long weekend with a strong win against the Millsaps Majors. With the 2-1 win, Scots are now 4-3-1.

Matheus Nunes sparked the offensive bout with two shots, two shots on goal, and scored the last goal of the game. Harrison Craig tallied one shot and one on net scoring the first goal of the game. Remigio Montesdeoca tallied three shots, and Clemente Diez marked two. Preston Telfer started in net and made four saves.

In the first, Scots set the tone early with an aggressive offensive tempo. Harrison Craig provided a spark early, breaking the deadlock at the 09:33 mark by drilling home an opening goal to secure the initial lead. The Scots' attack continued to challenge the Majors' backline, with Remigio Montesdeoca launching two dangerous shots off target and Matheus Nunes firing a strike on frame that forced a save. Preston Telfer anchored the defense, recording two critical first-half saves to keep the match balanced. To counter the physical pace, a massive wave of mid-half substitutions integrated Tomas Biasi, Jacob Quiceno, Roman Magnanelli, Richmond Soedjede, Salvador Fernandez, Micah Rangel, Pol Torres Lligadas, Inaki Terra, and Merrick Luibel to lock down the 1-1 tie at the break.

Going into the half, Lyon displayed great execution and composure during a hard-fought second half. Matheus Nunes delivered the defining moment of the match at the 83:19 mark, firing home the game-winning goal to break the tie and secure the win. The Scots' attacking unit consistently pressured the defense, with Clemente Diez forcing a save on target and Remigio Montesdeoca registering another dangerous scoring look. Preston Telfer anchored the backline under heavy pressure, racking up two critical second-half saves to preserve the narrow lead. Despite a physical battle that included a yellow card for Montesdeoca. Scots would hold onto their 2-1 lead as the Majors press hard offensively.

Up next, the University of the Ozarks Eagles take a trip down to Batesville Wednesday, September 23rd.
