Sauget, IL – The Lyon College Scots drop the final series of the regular season to the Webster University Gorloks. With the result, Scots are now 27-13 and will hold the third spot in the standings and will look to host the six seed on the opening round of SLIAC play.
Game 2
Lyon College 2, Webster University 5
In game one on the day, the Scots fall to Webster University. The Scots managed only five hits and one RBI.
Jarius Edwards singled, and
Caleb Collins followed with another single, placing runners on base. Edwards scored on a double play, reducing the deficit.
Tyler Hahn led off with a single, later scoring to bring the Scots within one run.
Jonah Wilkerson pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits, with two walks and a strikeout.
Kooper McCoy drew a walk and caught a base stealer, showcasing his skills behind the plate.
Game 3
Lyon College 9, Webster University 10
In game two,
Kooper McCoy led the Scots with two runs and two RBIs, significantly contributing to the team's offense.
Jarius Edwards added power with a home run, driving in four RBIs, bolstering the lead.
Eli Marcotte scored in the first inning after singling and advancing on a wild pitch.
Tyler Hahn and
Braden Bramlett also contributed to the early lead.
Landon Swallow doubled and scored on a throwing error in the fourth.
Ashton Compton doubled and scored in the sixth, with
Parker Thompson, McCoy, and Edwards adding RBI singles, bringing Lyon's total to four runs in the inning. Despite their efforts, the Gorloks would walk it off in the final frame.
With the current standings, the Scots look to start tournament play on Tuesday against the six seed, Greenville University.
