Scots fail to contain Webster

St. Louis, MO - The Lyon College Scots were unable to stop strong hitting and defensive play by the Webster University Gorloks, dropping both games 9-1. With today's results Scots are now 4-20 on the season and are now 1-5 in conference play.

In Game 1, Scots would get an opportunity early in the 1st with runners reaching on a hit by pitch and walk, but the final two outs would follow. The Gorloks would score their first run in response bringing one home on a ground out at 2nd base.  Now 1-0, Webster would extend their lead in the 2nd with four runs coming off a single and a double. Lyon would record it's only score of the game as Chloe McCance would double to left field bringing in Sophie Varela. Score would hold at 5-1 as teams held each other off. In the bottom of the 5th Gorloks would tack on another four runs on a two RBI double as well as two RBI singles to end the game 9-1. Scots recorded four hits and left four runners on base. In Game 2, Gorlocks jumped out ahead in the bottom of the 1st scoring five runs. Through the 2nd and 3rd Scots would make contact but find no joy as quick outs would leave runners stranded. Webster would add another three runs in the 3rd to make it 8-0, Scots were not out it yet as they fired back in the 4th. Skylar Foreman would single through the left side to reach first, Lily Arabie would come in to pinch run be out at second allowing Taylor Gongre to reach on a fielder's choice. Two back-to-back singles from Rebecca Rodriguez and Kori Cox would load the bases, but a strike out and ground out end the inning. After stopping the Gorloks in the 4th, Scots would score their only run of the day as Foreman would drive in Varela off a double to right field to make it 8-1. Webster would score their ninth and final run of the game on a single to right field to take the game 9-1. Scots would record seven hits and leave eight runners stranded.

Scots will head back to Batesville to continue their slate of SLIAC Conference games facing the Mississppi University for Women in a double header this Friday starting at 1:00 PM.
