Alton, IL – Scots get hot with a total of 27 batters crossing home plate against the Blackburn College Beavers. With the two strong wins, the Scots are now 26-10 on the season.
Game 1
Lyon College 13, Blackburn College 9
The Scots secured a strong 13-9 victory over Blackburn College Beavers. The Beavers took an early lead in the first inning, capitalizing on a throwing error to go ahead 2-0. The Scots responded in the second inning, tying the game at 2-2 with
Slade Inman's double. In the third inning, the Scots' offense erupted with eight runs, highlighted by
Ashton Compton's two-RBI single, pushing them to a 10-2 lead. They added another run in the fourth, while Blackburn narrowed the gap with a two-run homer.
Caleb Collins scored in the sixth, extending the Scots' lead to 12-4. Blackburn mounted a comeback in the eighth with five runs, but the Scots solidified their lead in the ninth with Compton scoring again.
Aidan Linson pitched 7 innings, allowing 5 earned runs and striking out 6.
Kenny Jennings and
Thomas Irwin closed the game for the Scots. Compton led the offense, scoring two runs and driving in two more, while McCoy and Inman also made significant contributions.
Game 2
Lyon College 14, Blackburn College 1
On game two of the day, the Scots dominated the Beavers with a 14-1 victory. Lyon's offense was potent, with two home runs and 14 RBIs, while Blackburn managed just one run on four hits. Lyon took an early lead in the first inning and extended it in the second, highlighted by
Kooper McCoy's bases-clearing double. Blackburn scored once in the fourth, but Lyon added two more runs in the fifth and exploded in the sixth with a two-run homer by
Slade Inman, who later hit another two-run shot in the seventh.
Rocco Boyle pitched a complete game, allowing just one earned run over seven innings, striking out one, and issuing two walks. Inman was a standout, scoring four runs, collecting four hits, and driving in four RBIs, including two home runs and a triple. McCoy contributed three RBIs, and Bramlett added two RBIs.
The Scots will face Blackburn again at 11 a.m. CT Wednesday, April 29, at Lloyd Hopkins Field.
