Lyon College 2, Spalding University 5
After a tough battle with the Spalding Golden Eagles, Scots would fall 2-5 on the day.
Ashton Compton provided the early highlight, driving in
Slade Inman with an RBI single in the third inning to give Lyon an initial lead. After Spalding surged ahead, the Scots clawed back in the fifth when
Braden Bramlett laced an RBI single to left, scoring
Cash Arnhart to bring the game within one. On the mound, starter
Rocco Boyle surrendered only two earned runs over 4.1 innings of work, while
Thomas Irwin provided steady relief with 2.2 innings of one-run ball.
Tyler Hahn spearheaded the offensive rhythm with a multi-hit performance, and
Kooper McCoy added a late-inning single to keep the pressure on. Defensively, the Scots remained sharp by turning four double plays to stifle several Golden Eagle threats. However, despite the late-game persistence from
Jarius Edwards and
Eli Marcotte, Lyon was unable to overcome a two-run Spalding rally in the ninth. The Scots finished the day with five hits and will look to bounce back in their next outing.
