Scots split the day with Spalding

Batesville, AR – Scots split the series on the day ending an impressive win streak. As Lyon looks to close out the series tomorrow, Scot's record moves to 19-6.

Game 1
Lyon College 12, Spalding University 11
In a dramatic extra-innings walk-off, the Scots secured a thrilling 12-11 victory over Spalding. The Scots' offense was spearheaded by a career day from Kooper McCoy, who went 5-for-6 with four doubles and the game-winning RBI in the tenth to score Cash Arnhart. Early on, Lyon trailed significantly before a massive six-run fifth inning, fueled by Caleb Collins' two-RBI bunt single and run-scoring knocks from Ashton Compton, Braden Bramlett, and Jarius Edwards. Bramlett also added a sacrifice fly and later doubled in the tenth to set up the final play. Eli Marcotte kept the pressure on the Golden Eagles by tripling and scoring the tying run on a wild pitch in the seventh. On the mound, Joe Galay battled through nearly seven innings, but it was Aidan Linson who earned the win in relief, holding Spalding to just one earned run over the final 3.1 frames. Despite five defensive errors, Lyon's resilience shone through as Edwards' heads-up baserunning in the ninth forced extras, where the Scots ultimately completed their comeback.

Game 2

In game two of the day, Scots would fall to Spalding despite a late rally. The Scots' offense was sparked by a massive six-run fifth inning, highlighted by Jarius Edwards, who drove in two runs with a single and later added a stolen base. Ashton Compton led the hit parade with a 3-for-5 performance, including an RBI double that helped ignite the scoring. Braden Bramlett and Tyler Hahn also contributed run-scoring singles during the rally, while Kooper McCoy added an RBI knock and drew a late walk. Eli Marcotte kept the pressure on the Golden Eagles by doubling and scoring, and Caleb Collins crossed the plate in the eighth following a base hit. On the mound, Jackson Smith and Jonah Wilkerson combined to navigate the first seven innings, while Carter Sprague provided a clean relief appearance by striking out the final Spalding batter.
