Clarksville, Ar – Coming off of a tough weekend, Scots are able to find some offensive momentum in the second game of the day against University of the Ozarks Eagles. Scots were stifled in the first game only being held to one hit. In the second game on the day, Scots out-hit the Eagles but was not enough in the closing frames.

Sophie Varela tallied two hits in game two with Sanchez recording two RBI's. In the circle,
Marlee McCalister goes the distance with 5.0 innings pitched with eight fly outs and seven ground outs.
Game 1
Lyon 1, University of the Ozarks 9
In the first game of the day for Scots Softball, Scots struggled to find their rhythm, ultimately falling 9-1. The Scots' offense was quiet for most of the afternoon, held to just two hits by the Eagles.
Rebecca Rodriguez provided a spark in the fifth inning with a single to right-center, and Sophia Varela capitalized on the opportunity, reaching on a fielder's choice and later scoring the Scots' lone run.
Taylor Gongre delivered the crucial RBI single to left field that brought Varela home, preventing a shutout. On the defensive side,
Carlee Duncan shouldered the start, pitching 4.1 innings and navigating a potent Eagles lineup that capitalized on early opportunities.
McKenzie Wright entered in relief during the final frame to close out the game.
Game 2
Lyon 4, University of the Ozarks 5
In a tightly contested matchup against the Ozarks Eagles, Scots came close to victory but ultimately fell just short in a 5-4 decision. The Scots jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Sophia Varela and
Anna Voth both singled and eventually scored on sacrifice flies from
Mia Sanchez and
Rebecca Rodriguez. After the Eagles tied the game, Lyon's bats came alive again in the fifth inning.
Ohnrie Bergman reached base and scored on a clutch RBI single from
Skylar Foreman, while Varela, who finished with two hits including a double, crossed the plate thanks to another RBI single by
Mia Sanchez. Voth also contributed significantly, tallying two hits on the day. In the circle,
Marlee McCalister battled through five innings.
Carlee Duncan provided strong relief in the sixth, retiring the Eagles in order to keep the deficit at one. Although
Taylor Gongre and
Kori Cox added hits to the Scots' 10-hit total, Lyon was unable to find the equalizer in the final frames.
Scots return home March 13th and 14th to face Crowleys Ridge Pioneers and the Milsaps Majors.
