Eureka, IL – Scots secure the three game conference sweep against the Eureka Red Devils. Scots increase their record to 15-5.
Lyon College 12, Eureka College 1
In another dominant 12-1 offensive display, Scots dismantled the Eureka Red Devils on the road behind a relentless early-inning surge. The Scots' lineup was spearheaded by
Ashton Compton, who finished a stellar 4-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Lyon set the tone immediately, plating four runs in the first inning highlighted by a two-RBI single from
Slade Inman, then followed up with a six-run explosion across the next two frames.
Kooper McCoy and
Landon Swallow were also pivotal, each providing multi-hit performances and two RBIs to keep the pressure on Eureka's pitching staff. On the mound,
Rocco Boyle provided a strong start, surrendering only one run over 4.1 innings while striking out one.
Jonah Wilkerson then entered in relief to shut the door on any potential Red Devil comeback, earning the win with 2.2 innings of one-hit ball and two strikeouts. The Scots' aggressiveness was on full display as they swiped five bases—including a daring steal of home by
Braden Bramlett in the second—and capitalized on several hit-by-pitches to maintain constant traffic on the basepaths throughout the seven-inning contest.
On Tuesday, Scots head to Paragould, AR to face the Crowleys Ridge Pioneers. First pitch will be at 1:00 PM.
