Scots fall in great effort against the Majors

Batesville, AR – Scots show some resilient effort against a tough Millsaps Majors team. Despite the great effort, Scots would fall in both games on the day. Lyon are no 3-11.
 

Game 1
Lyon 0, Millsaps 7
Scots fell 7-0 to the Millsaps Majors in game one on the day. Despite the shutout, the Scots' offense managed three hits, highlighted by Mia Sanchez, who finished 1-for-3 with a double. Rebecca Rodriguez and Callie Marberry also contributed singles. In the circle, Marlee McCalister shouldered a heavy workload, throwing 133 pitches over a complete seven-inning performance. McCalister was able to strike out five Majors. Defensively, the Scots turned two double plays to limit the damage, including a sharp 3b-to-1b conversion involving Rodriguez.
 

Game 2
Lyon 2, Millsaps 7
 
Lyon fell 7-2 to the Millsaps Majors in the second game of their Saturday doubleheader. Despite the loss, the Scots' offense remained active, tallying eight total hits. Sophia Varela anchored the lineup with a standout 3-for-4 performance, scoring a run and swiping a base. Skylar Foreman provided Lyon's only RBI with a clutch third-inning single to right field. In the fourth, Taylor Gongre ignited the offense with a triple and later crossed the plate on a passed ball to account for the Scots' second run. Mia Sanchez was perfect at the plate, finishing 2-for-2 with a walk, while Callie Marberry added a hit and a stolen base. In the circle, Carlee Duncan threw a complete game, enduring a 120-pitch effort over seven innings tallying a strikeout.
 
Scots go on the road next Wednesday for their second match up against the Hendrix College Warriors.
