Batesville, AR – Scots command the court from start to finish in a convincing 107-84 victory over the Blackburn Beavers. With this result, Scots move to 11-10 on the season.
Natalya Kaza led the Scots in scoring with 23 points and records three steals with three assists.
Savanna Lopez had an outstanding performance today with 10 points and an impressive nine blocks and led the team in rebounds with 16.
Kaysharia Woods also had a strong outing by recording 17 points, seven rebounds and a team high of seven assists, and a team high of four steals.
The Scots opened strong as Woods scored the first bucket with a jumper, followed by back-to-back points from
Kaysharia Woods on a driving layup.
Molly Mason added a tough jumper around the six-minute mark to push the lead to 10–2. Late in the quarter,
Izabel Soto knocked down a three as Lyon closed the first quarter ahead 29–15.
Woods opened the second by finding Lopez for a fadeaway jumper to make it 31–15. The Beavers added a few points, but Mason answered with a corner jumper. Under six minutes, Woods knocked down her 12th point of the game, and Lopez followed a block with a jumper to push the lead to 50–34. Before the half, Abascal buried a buzzer-beating three as the Scots took a 60–38 lead into intermission.
The Scots maintained their advantage in the third quarter.
Natalya Kaza immediately sank a three-pointer with an assist from
Kaysharia Woods to extend the lead. After a Blackburn run, Woods converted a jumper in the paint, and
Savanna Lopez made two free throws following a foul to restore a large Scots lead. Key plays included multiple steals by Lopez and Woods and strong rebounding by Lopez to limit second-chance points for Blackburn.
Paris Halliburton added a jumper and a free throw late in the quarter, and Kaza finished the quarter strong with two more baskets, including a fastbreak layup, to push the lead to 24 points.
Alyssa Abascal started the fourth quarter with a fastbreak layup in the paint. Kaza and
Maggye Adams followed up with jumpers of their own, as the Scots continued to push the pace.
Brooklyn Berry proved to be a spark off the bench, draining back-to-back three-pointers, with assists from Lopez and Kaza, to build a 34-point advantage.
Molly Mason and Lopez contributed further with layups to maintain the decisive lead. Despite a late push from Blackburn,
Olivia Jones hit a free throw to seal the Scots' commanding win. Scots finish with a final score of 107-84.
