Early offensive efforts not enough as Scots fall in both games

Memphis, TN – Continuing from day one in Memphis, Scots struggles continued as they could not get the bats going against Rhodes and Maryville, Scots would take two losses on the day bringing their standing to 1-5
Game 1
Lyon - 2, Maryville - 20

Lyon College faced a tough Maryville team in a high-scoring game. Maryville took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Lyon responded with two runs of their own. Sophie Varela walked and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Mia Sanchez, and Anna Voth scored on a passed ball. Unfortunately, Lyon's offense struggled to generate much more, managing only one hit in the entire game. The third inning proved disastrous for Lyon, as Maryville scored 11 runs. Lyon pitchers faced continued offensive pressure from Maryville. Maryville would end the game in the fifth inning with a final score of 20-2.
Game 2
Lyon  - 1, Rhodes - 9

In the second game of the day Scots fell to the Rhodes 9-1 in a five-inning game. Lyon took an early lead in the first inning when Sophie Varela singled, advanced to third on an Anna Voth double, and scored on an error by the Rhodes third baseman, with Skylar Foreman getting the RBI. However, the Lynx tied the game in the bottom of the first and then broke it open in the fourth inning with six runs. Lyon struggled offensively after the first, managing only three hits in total against the Lynx. The game ended via run rule in the fifth inning.

Scots will make their home debut on Saturday, February 28th with games starting at 1:00 PM.
