Memphis, TN - Lyon College Scots softball struggled in it's outings today as they faced Maryville College Scots and Rhodes College Lynx. Lyon was shut out in both games with both opponents taking control midway through the contests. With today's loses Scots are now 1-3 on the year.
Scots pitching did not have a great outing, but the bats did come alive as 7 total hits were recorded. Skyler Foreman and
Anna Voth were the top hitters on the day each recording two hits.

Lily Arabie notched one hit.
Game 1
Lyon 0, Maryville 8
Lyon's offense was able to threaten early in game as Sanchez and Foreman singled to put runner's on base, but no runs scored as the third out came on the next batter. Maryville would score their first run off a fielder's choice in the second inning to take the lead. Voth would get a hit in the third and steal second base, but a quick line out would keep the Lyon from scoring. Scots defense would hold in the bottom of the 3rd, but offensively it was more of the same. Maryville would break through in the fourth with a triple driving in two runs, a ground out bringing in another, and a hit by pitch in a loaded base situation sending one home. Maryville would get the run rule by scoring three runs in the fifth off a double for 2 RBI and a single to drive in another to take it 8-0.
Game 2
Lyon 0, Rhodes 8
Second game was more of the same issues as Lyon's offense was stopped by Rhodes, while defensively they were unable to stop their hitting and aggressive baserunning. Scots could not threaten the Lynx through two innings batters were struck out or had hits stopped by their defense. Rhodes would take the lead in the first inning with an single to center field driving in a run. Scots did put two runners on as Voth and Arabie laid down hits, but a pop up put an end to the opportunity. In the third Rhodes would get more runs off back-to-back batters as a triple and ground out added two more RBI. In that same inning two doubles in succession would bring home three more runs. Rhodes would add another run late to take the game 8-0.
Scots will stay in Memphis to face Maryville and Rhodes again tomorrow Sunday, Februrary 22nd with games beginning at 10:00 AM.
