Scots get first win of the season over Ozarks in tight contest, split series

Clarksville, AR - Lyon College Scots softball gets their first win of the season over the Univeristy of Ozarks Eagles, taking the second game of the double header, 9-8. Lyon is as of now 1-1 to start their 2026 campaign.

Southside native Carlee Duncan earns her first collegiate win on the circle pitching all seven innings in today's second game. Skyler Foreman had the best bat on the day notching two doubles, 2 RBI, and scoring two runs. Close behind was Rebecca Rodriguez who recorded 2 hits & 2 RBI. Taylor Gongre added a hit that drove in 2 runs.
Game 1
Lyon 0, Ozarks 9

Scots defense held for the first two innings, but things changed in the bottom of the 2nd as a passed ball advanced runners two second and third setting up a scoring opportunity. One the Eagles bats would cash in on driving in two runs and later a third on a sacrifice bunt. Ozarks offense would drive in three more runs in the 3rd and add three more in the 5th on a three run homer.

Scots offense could never get going, only threatening during the 2nd inning where the sole hit was recorded. A double to left field of the bat of Rodriguez.
Game 2
Lyon 9, Ozarks 8

Lyon's second game of the day was a completely different story taking the lead early, 6-2, then having to hold off a late game comeback by Ozarks to get the win. Scots offensively would record 7 hits & 8 RBI, while the defense would bend not break in the flurry of scoring from the Eagles in the 6th. Through seven innings, Duncan recorded two strikeouts allowing eight runs all which were earned.

Foreman led the offense with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs. Rodriguez scratched a hit driving in two RBI. Gongre added 1 hit & 2 RBI.

After both sides going scoreless thorough the 1st, Foreman would put one up for the Scots scoring off a wild pitch after reaching on a double to right field. Eagles would tie it back in the bottom of the 2nd, 1-1. Lyon would regain the lead with Mia Sanchez driving in run, then Foreman doubling again to bring home two more. Now 4-1 in the top of the 3rd, a single up the middle from Gongre would drive in two more runs to go up 6-1. Ozarks would add another run in the fourth and fifth to cut the lead in half, as the Scots bats could not find the mark. That is until a walk, an error, and fielders choice loaded the bases for the Scots when a single from Rodriguez would drive in two runs and allow another to come home. With the Scots now leading 9-3, Ozarks bats came alive to get three on. A walk and a wild pitch would hand them two runs quickly, a single RBI would add another, then two come home on a fielders choice to make it 9-8. Scots would find their way out it though, as ground out to the pitcher and routine plays in the 7th gave Scots the win.
