Elsah, IL – A large deficit going into halftime would decide the game as the Scots fall to Principia on the road. Scots move to 12-11 on the season.
Coming off of a 34-point game,
Natalya Kaza worked her magic by scoring 20 points for the Scots, recorded a team high of 3 steals and eight rebounds.
Johanna Zocholl made an impression with 12 points, a team high of two blocks, and a team high of 10 rebounds.
Kaysharia Woods led the team in assists with four.
Scots faced tough defensive pressure from the Panthers, often having shots blocked by Principia players. Lyon's scoring was initially slow, with their first points coming from a Kaza free throw more than four minutes into the game.
Natalya Kaza was a key offensive contributor, making several free throws and scoring jumpers.
Molly Mason added a timely three-pointer in the first quarter, assisted by
Camya Porter.
In the second quarter, Scots found some momentum.
Johanna Zocholl contributed offensively, and Mason Molly added a layup. Despite moments of increased offense, the team struggled with turnovers throughout the half, frequently having the ball stolen by the Panthers. Lyon's aggressive play led to technical fouls on both
Maggye Adams and
Brooklyn Berry. By the end of the first half, Scots would Find themselves trailing be a significant margin going into the half. Panthers would enter the intermission with a 47-26 lead over the Scots.
Entering the third quarter trailing Principia by 21 points.
Natalya Kaza provided an immediate spark, opening the period with a layup and later knocking down a crucial three-pointer. Zocholl became a powerhouse in the paint, scoring multiple layups and converting at the charity stripe to finish the game with 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Alyssa Abascal also contributed to the early third-quarter effort, adding two jumpers to the scoreboard.
Despite strong efforts from the team, the Scots struggled to contain the Panthers outside shooting. The fourth quarter saw a surge from Lyon's bench;
Maggye Adams scored back-to-back layups, while
Brooklyn Berry and Kaza each drained shots from beyond the arc.
Heidi Parrish added late offensive production with a jumper and a fastbreak layup in the final minute. After a tough battle with -the Panthers, the deficit was too much leading to a Principia victory of 102-71.
