Elsah, Illinois - The Lyon College Scots earn another win in the SLIAC, their sixth over Principia since 2023. With this win the Scots are now 16-7 on the season and 10-4 in conference play.
Scots controlled the early stages by attacking the paint and forcing turnovers, gradually building momentum. Lyon used balanced scoring and defensive pressure to take a 35-30 lead into halftime after winning the rebounding battle and limiting Principia's second chance opportunities.
The Scots took full control after the break, opening the second half with a run that quickly stretched the margin into double digits. Lyon shot 52.8 percent in the second half and continued to pressure the Panthers defensively, holding Principia to just 25 points over the final 20 minutes while steadily extending the lead.
Stephen Reed led Lyon with 18 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists. Xavier Sorrell added 14 points and six rebounds, while Trevon Taylor and Kenneth Brown each finished with 10 points. Lyon also received key contributions off the bench, totaling 28 bench points on the night.
Lyon finished the game with 40 points in the paint and 27 points off turnovers, while dominating the glass with a 51-24 rebounding advantage. The Scots also capitalized on offensive rebounds, scoring 25 second chance points.
Scots return home to Batesville next week to face the Webster University Gorloks on Thursday, Feburary 19th at 7:30 PM.
