Scots Invite You To Support The Alzheimer's Association

BATESVILLE, AR, JANUARY 28, 2026 – More than 41 participants from Lyon College Scots Men's and Women's basketball teams are participating in Do What You Love to End ALZ, with a goal of raising $1500 to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.

The Scots Alzheimer's Awareness Night event is in conjunction with the Do What You Love to End ALZ fundraiser, which empowers individuals and groups to turn their passions into meaningful action in the fight against Alzheimer's and other dementias. The Lyon College Men's and Women's Basketball games will be taking place on Thursday, February 5th with the Women's game beginning at 5:30 PM and Men's starting at 7:30 PM. Both will take place in Becknell Gymnasium on the campus of Lyon College. To join their fundraiser or donate to their event, please click here.

"We're excited to bring our community together to support a cause that's affects so many." said Head Men's basketball Coach Rodney Mayes. "Whether you join us in person or donate online, your support helps fuel critical programs for families affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias." Added Head Women's basketball Coach Michael Peckham.

Do What You Love to End ALZ is a fundraising event that empowers participants to turn their favorite activities into meaningful fundraisers. Whether it's hiking, biking, baking, playing cards, hosting a cookout, or organizing a sports tournament, you can raise funds on your own schedule, in your own way — all to support those affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias.

More than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease – a leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 12 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer's and other dementias.

Scots' dedication will help the Alzheimer's Association continue to move toward its vision of a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia.
