Scots outpace Royals, 94-46, Kaza and Lopez led the way

Batesville, AR- Fighting Scots women's basketball team delivered a dominant performance tonight, rolling past Ecclesia College,94-46. Scots now improve to 8-6 on the year and remain 5-1 in SLIAC conference play. 

Lyon set the tone early, jumping out to a 24-5 lead after the first quarter behind aggressive defense and balanced scoring. The Scots forced turnovers and capitalized in transition, never allowing Ecclesia to settle into an offensive rhythm. By halftime, Lyon had built a commanding 44-14 advantage, holding the Royals to just five made field goals in the opening half.

Natalya Kaza led all scorers with 21 points, knocking down three three-pointers, adding five assists and two steals to pace the Scots. Savanna Lopez was a force inside, finishing with 16 points, 14 rebounds, four steals and two assists for another double-double.

Lyon continued to apply pressure in the second half, outscoring Ecclesia 25-16 in the third quarter and matching that output again in the fourth. The Scots' depth was on full display, as 16 different players scored and the bench contributed 38 points. Lyon also won the rebounding battle 56-43 and turned 34 Ecclesia turnovers into 30 points.

Molly Mason put up seven points for the Scots off a three-pointer, a field goal and two free throws, while contributing on the glass with seven rebounds. Camya Porter added seven points off two field goals and a three-pointer, while helping out with three assists and one steal. Heidi Parrish and Olivia Wallace scored seven points for the Scots in limited minutes, each making two field goals and a three-pointer. Parrish also added five rebounds.

The Scots will look to carry the momentum forward as they resume conference play at home, facing the Principia Panthers this Saturday, January 17th at 1:00 PM inside Becknell Gymnasium.
