Lyon closes the gap but is unable to shut the door against ETBU

Marshall, TX – A close battle between both sides ends in the Scots falling to the Tigers with a final score of 66-62. With the result, Scots move to 10-4 on the season.

Xavier Sorrell led the Scots in scoring putting up a tremendous 24 points and recorded team high of eight rebounds. Stephen Reed and Kenneth Brown collectively put 12 points a piece on the board for the Scots. Reed led the team in assist with three and recorded five steals.

Lyon trailed ETBU by nine points, 30-21, after a tough first half in Marshall, Texas. The Tigers established an early 8-2 lead, but Lyon battled back. Stephen Reed and Trevon Taylor contributed quick layups, and Kenneth Brown hit a jumper to keep the Scots within striking distance.
However, the Tigers used a strong push late in the period to build their lead. Despite Lyon's efforts, including free throws from Reed and a layup from Xavier Sorrell, ETBU maintained momentum. Brown scored another basket in the final minute, but the Tigers answered with a layup before the buzzer to take a nine-point advantage into the locker room.

Lyon fought hard in the second half but ultimately fell to the Tigers, 66-62. ETBU started strong, extending their lead to 11 points early. However, Trevon Taylor quickly answered with two consecutive three-pointers, cutting the deficit. Taylor and Xavier Sorrell combined for several key baskets, even taking a brief one-point lead at the 15:46 mark.

The lead changed multiple times throughout a back-and-forth second period. Stephen Reed made clutch free throws, and Kenneth Brown added timely layups to keep the Scots in the game. With just over a minute remaining, the Tigers led by five. Sorrell made two free throws to cut it to three, and Taylor drained a last-second three-pointer with seven seconds left. However, ETBU secured the win with free throws in the final moments.
 
Next, the Scots return home on Saturday to face the Principia Panthers at 3:00 PM.
