Eureka, IL – Scots come out again victorious on the road against the Eureka Red Devils making a statement with a 89-57 victory. Two strong conference outings propel the Scots to 7-6 on the season.
Natalya Kaza led the way in scoring for the Scots by scoring 32 points.
Camya Porter and
Da'Myia Derby both gave a helping hand by dishing out five assists. Continuing her streak of blocks,
Savanna Lopez tallied four blocks. Lopez also got up and snagged 17 rebounds
The Scots established a commanding presence early in the game against Eureka, finishing the first quarter with a 29-16.
Natalya Kaza immediately impacted the game by making key layups and 3-pointers, assisted by teammates like
Da'Myia Derby and
Savanna Lopez.
Molly Mason also contributed effectively, scoring layups and free throws, while collecting numerous rebounds. The first quarter saw valuable minutes from players such as
Izabel Soto,
Coi Bradley, and
Carsyn Gore as substitutes. Eureka struggled to contain Lyon's offense, and several Lyon players made notable defensive plays, including Lopez's blocks and Kaza's steals.
In the second quarter, Lyon extended their advantage with a 22-19 performance, heading into halftime with a 51-35 lead. Kaza continued her scoring run, while
Paris Halliburton and
Johanna Zocholl made major contributions, with Zocholl securing a steal and Halliburton adding crucial baskets.
Camya Porter's assists and scoring helped maintain momentum. Despite facing a determined Eureka side, Lyon consistently found ways to score, leveraging fast breaks and points in the paint, pushing the lead to 20 points.
Lyon extended their dominant lead in the second half, ultimately securing a commanding 89-57 victory over Eureka. The third quarter saw a strong 22-10 run for Lyon, with the lead expanding to 27 points after a pair of successful free throws by
Natalya Kaza. Key offensive plays included a layup by
Brooklyn Berry, assisted by
Niya Evans, and another score by
Paris Halliburton from a
Savanna Lopez assist. Lyon's defense continued to stifle Eureka, with
Savanna Lopez adding to her block tally and the team capitalizing on Eureka turnovers.
The fourth quarter resulted in a 16-12 period in favor of Lyon, who reached their largest lead of 41 points after a quick fast-break layup by
Heidi Parrish following a steal by
Da'Myia Derby.
Maggye Adams and
Johanna Zocholl made contributions, with Adams sinking two free throws and Zocholl making a key steal. Despite a late push by Eureka to narrow the final margin to 32 points.
