Batesville, AR - The Lyon College Scots men's soccer team will host Spalding University this weekend to start St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletice Conference play. The Scots and Golden Eagles will kick things off this Saturday, September 27 at 12:30 PM.
In the SLIAC, Westminster leads the conference with a record of 5-3 at this point during the season. Greenville University places second with a 3-3-1 record and Eureka comes in third with a 4-5-1 record overall. While Eureka has played more games, ten in total, they have a lower winning percentage of .450 next to higher ranked competitors. Blackburn follows in fourth having a 4-5 record and Spalding places fifth with 2-3-2 for the season. Your Lyon College Scots are 2-3-2, currently putting them sixth in the conference overall. Principia and Webster are tied at seventh each with a record of 2-3-1. Bringing up the rear is Mississippi University for Women with a record 3-5.
Scots are coming off a tough loss to Millsaps last Sunday falling 3-1. With seven games played stat leaders for the Scots are
Lucca Torres who leads in goals (8) and shots (17),
Matheus Nunes and Torres who are both tied for lead in shots on goal each having seven, and
Gabriel Rangel with nine saves. Torres and Nunes are also tied with most assists each having three.
Spalding's last match was against Anderson University resulting in a tie. Having played eight games this year the stat leaders for the Golden Eagles are Eddie Mendez-Perez who leads in goals (3), shots (21), and shots on goal (8) and Mattes Micah who has recorded 20 saves this year.
Scots are 1-1 all time against Spalding with the last meeting between the two programs coming last in Louisville, KY as the Scots failed to find the win 2-1.
