Jackson, MS – An aggressive Belhaven Blazer team narrowly edges out the Scots in a 1-0 win. Scots are now even at two on the record.
The Scots and Blazers were even on shots, each recording nine with four on target.
Lucca Torres led the Scots with three attempts, including one on goal.
Joao Barros and
Matheus Nunes added two shots apiece, while
Cristian De La Rosa and
Traviss Ragan each tallied one. In goal,
Francisco Polonia faced nine shots, making four saves while allowing just one score
The Scots' defense was tested early, with Polonia facing four shots in the opening 10 minutes. Nunes and Torres pushed forward to create offensive chances, but the Blazers broke through late in the first half, scoring the match's lone goal at the 34:33 mark to take a 1-0 lead.
The Scots opened the second half with increased offensive pressure, as Nunes fired a shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the Blazers' keeper made the stop. Belhaven responded minutes later with a strike toward the bottom corner, denied by Polonia at 53:21. Nunes and Torres then produced back-to-back chances just wide of the net (57:00, 57:17). A late yellow card issued to the Blazers and attempts by De La Rosa and Barros rounded out the final minutes, but the Scots were unable to find the equalizer.
