Batesville, AR - The Lyon College Scots volleyball team will travel to Fulton, Missouri this weekend to begin their slate of St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games. Scots will face host Westminster College first at 10:00 AM and later Eureka at 2:00 PM.
As things stand in the SLIAC, Westminster leads having gone 12-4 of the 16 games they have played. Blackburn, Greenville, and Lyon are tied with records of 4-6, with the difference coming in Points for - Points Against which is listed below. Eureka sits at 5th with a 3-5 record, while the Mississisppi University for Women and Webster each have gone 2-6 so far. Spalding in last, currently has a record of 1-6.
Scots are coming off their first win at home of the season, beating The University of Ozarks in four sets (25-21. 20-25, 25-22. 25-18). With ten games played stat leaders for the Scots are
Avery Fuller leads in kills (65),
Reyleigh Twist leads in digs (86),
Caroline Snow leads in assists (128) and service aces (12), and
Keeley Beary leads in blocks (30).
Westminster is coming off a win at home as well, facing Knox College in three (25-20, 25-14, 25-14). Having played in 16 games this year some stat leaders for the Blue Jays are Kylie Hasselbacker with 134 kills, Haylie Schrake with 235 digs, and Landrey VanOverschelde with 374 assists.
Eureka is coming a loss at home to Concordia Chicago in four sets (18-25, 18-25, 25-19. 17-25). Out of the eight games played so far Alyssa Company leads in kills (76), Lexi Liaromatis leads in digs (81), and Kaitlyn Robinson leads in assists (101).
Lyon is currently 0-4 all time to Westminster with their last meeting coming last year in Batesville as the Scots fell to the Blue Jays in a close five set match (27-25, 13-25, 22-25, 25-21, 5-15). Fighting Scots are 4-0 historically vs Eureka with their last meeting coming in early November last year in Eureka, Illinois, with Lyon taking the match in a sweep (29-27, 26-24, 25-22).
Success this weekend would mean great things this in season in conference play.
