BATESVILLE, Arkansas — Lyon College has been named the runner-up in the 2024–2025
United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Director's Cup standings, finishing just
behind Johnson & Wales University-Charlotte in the prestigious national ranking.
The Director's Cup recognizes overall athletic excellence among USCAA member institutions
and highlights programs that not only offer a diverse range of sports but also consistently
compete at the national level. Final standings include results from eight USCAA championship
events across the academic year, as well as points awarded for national convention participation
and overall sport offerings.
Lyon College earned a total of 536.5 points—just 18.5 points shy of the top spot. The Scots
began the year with a dominant performance at the USCAA Golf National Championship in
State College, Pennsylvania, where the men's team finished first overall.
Additional points came from a standout Fall Championship Week, highlighted by the men's
soccer team winning the 2024 Division I National Championship, the volleyball team finishing as
national runners-up and the women's cross country team earning points with a strong finish.
The Scots continued their strong showing into the spring semester, with the men's basketball
team tying for third at the national championships.
"We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes and coaches for the hard work they've put in
throughout the year," said
Kevin Jenkins, director of athletics at Lyon College. "This recognition
speaks volumes about the depth and strength of our entire athletics program."
Jenkins noted that the Director's Cup finish reflects a campus-wide commitment to excellence.
"It's not just about winning championships—it's about showing up, putting in the work, and
representing Lyon College with pride at every opportunity," he said.
