CARLINVILLE, Illinois - The Lyon College softball Scots split a doubleheader with Blackburn in SLIAC action at Carlinville, Illinois.
The Scots (9-23, 5-7) lost the first game 5-0 and won the second game 8-6.
In the first game, Blackburn scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning and added another in the bottom of the fourth for the only scoring in the game.
Lyon College had five hits and made three errors.
Sophie Varela had a hit,
Olivia Orf had two hits,
Skylar Foreman had a hit and
Ohnrie Bergman had a hit in the first game against Blackburn.
In the second game, Blackburn scored one run in the bottom of the first inning.Â
But the Scots came back to score four runs in the top of the third. MK Duffield doubled to left center to bring in Bergman and
Fallon Lancaster, then Orf singled to left field to score Varela. Foreman grounded out to short and scored Duffield to make it 4-1.
Blackburn added another run in the bottom of the third inning to make it a 4-2 game.
In the top of the sixth inning, Bergman hit a grounder to short that scored Brianna Marquecho. Lancaster singled to left field to score
Gabby Thomas for a 6-2 Lyon College lead.
Blackburn tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with four runs.
In the top of the seventh, Duffield hit a two-run homer for the Scots that also scored
Anna Voth to make it 8-6 and Blackburn was held scoreless in the bottom of the seventh.
Georgia Holzer picked up the win for the Scots going seven innings. She gave up 10 hits and six runs, walked two and struck out two batters.
The Scots play at Fontbonne on Friday in a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
