Lyon softball drops two SLIAC games at Greenville

GREENVILLE, Illinois - The Lyon College softball Scots lost a doubleheader at Greenville on Thursday afternoon.

The Scots (6-20, 2-4) lost the first game 6-0 and led most of the second game, but lost 4-3.
In the first game, MK Duffield had a single to left field in the top of the fourth inning. Greenville came back to score three runs in the bottom of the first to lead 3-0.
In the top of the second, Rebecca Rodriguez singled to center field and Brianna Morquecho singled to left field, but a ground and a double play that just got Rodriguez at the plate, even though her hand was on the bag at the time of the call. 
Greenville scored three more runs in the bottom of the second to lead 6-0. 
Anna Voth had a single for the Scots in the top of the third inning, but was left stranded on base. Voth doubled to right field in the top of the sixth, but was left stranded on base again. 
Rodriguez singled to center field in the top of the seventh and Skylar Foreman drew a walk, but a pop out and two strike outs ended the game.

Georgia Holzer started the game in the circle for Lyon College and suffered the loss. She pitched 1.1 innings, gave up five hits, six runs and walked two batters of the 11 she faced.
Sydney Lasher came in to pitch 4.2 innings and gave up two hits, no runs, had two walks and two strike outs of the 18 batters she faced.

In Game 2, Sophie Varela led off the top of the first inning with a single to right-center field. Voth put down a sacrifice bunt and Duffield singled. Olivia Orf singled to right field to bring in Varela and Morquecho put down a sacrifice bunt to move Duffield to third base. Rodriguez singled to right field and Duffield scored. Foreman singled to right field and Orf scored to make it 3-0 Scots.
In the top of the second, Varela singled to center field, Voth singled to right field and Duffield singled down the right field line to load the bases with one out. Two strike outs ended the Lyon College threat.
In the top of the third, Foreman doubled to right-center field, but was left stranded.
Greenville came back to score three runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game.
In the top of the fifth, Orf led off with a walk and with one out, Rodriguez singled to right field to advance pinch-runner Gabby Thomas to third base. However a double play ended the Scots threat there.
Greenville scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead 4-3.
In the top of the sixth with one out, Fallon Lancaster walked, Varela singled to right field, but a fly out and a strike out ended the Scots half of the sixth.
Lyon College went down in order in the top of the seventh to end the game.

Madison DeRoussel suffered the loss from the circle. She pitched six full innings, gave up nine hits and four runs, three of which were earned runs. 

Lyon College will host Webster on Saturday afternoon for a SLIAC doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
