ST. LOUIS, Missouri - The Lyon College Scots baseball team dropped a SLIAC doubleheader at Webster on Friday 10-3 and 8-1.
The Scots (9-13, 1-5) trailed 6-0 until the top of the eighth inning of Game 1.
Walker Smith led off with a walk,
Braden Hendrix singled through the left side and
Landon Swallow singled to left field to load the bases.
Andrew James drew a walk after Webster changed pitchers to bring in Smith, then
Braden Bramlett singled to left field to bring in Hendrix. With two outs,
Kooper McCoy singled to right field and Swallow scored to make it 6-3.
Webster scored four more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead 10-3.
Patrick Babcock got the loss from the mound for the Scots. He pitched six innings, gave up eight hits and six runs, three of which were unearned. He walked five of the 31 batters he faced.
Connor Taylor came in to pitch one inning and gave up a run and walked one.
Parker Paschal pitched against one batter and gave up a run, then
Braden Anderson pitched one inning and gave up two hits and two runs.
In the second game, Webster led 3-0 until the top of the fifth inning. Swallow was hit by a pitch, then with one out,
Garrett Graef reached first on an error.
Eli Marcotte singled through the right side to score Swallow and advance Graef to second.
Ashton Compton walked with two outs to load the bases, but a ground out ended the scoring threat for the Scots.
Webster scored five more runs in the bottom of the seventh to win 8-1.
Kenny Jennings suffered the loss for Lyon College. He pitched 0.1 innings, gave up three hits and three runs.
Conrad Muir pitched 5.2 innings and gave up six hits and three runs, while striking out two batters.
Jonah Wilkerson came in for a 0.2 innings of work and gave up two hits and two runs.
Tyler Campbell was the last Scots pitcher and he went 1.1 innings and did not give up a hit or a run.Â
