Panthers unable to gain control of a dominant Scots outing

Batesville, AR – Scots caught fire on offense, overpowering the Greenville University Panthers in a high-scoring matchup. With the win, Lyon women's basketball improves to 3-4 on the season.
 
Natalya Kaza led the Scots with 19 points, five assists, and four steals. Savanna Lopez followed with 17 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, while Alyssa Abascal added 13 points, nine rebounds, and four steals in the dominant performance.
 
Panthers opened the first quarter on a 5-0 run before Savannah Lopez answered with a long-range jumper to make it 5-2. Midway through the frame, the Panthers pushed their lead to 12-5, but Coi Bradley responded with a tough pull-up to close the gap. Strong defensive pressure from the Scots forced key turnovers, pulling the game within one in the final 30 seconds. The quarter closed in a 14-14 tie.
 
Scots went scoreless for the first five minutes of the second quarter before a strong jumper from Savannah Lopez ended the drought, cutting the Panthers' lead to 19-16. Natalya Kaza then jumped a passing lane for a fast-break layup, pulling the Scots within one. Kaysharia Woods followed with a tough drive to give Lyon its first lead, 20-19. Kaza added an and-1 moments later, extending the advantage to 23-19. The Scots closed the quarter on a hot streak, knocking down multiple threes to take a 32-28 lead into halftime.
 
Scots opened the third quarter with a layup from Lopez and a finish from Kaza to go up 35-29. Woods drilled a deep three to stretch the lead to 40-31, and with the Panthers struggling to find offense, Abascal powered through the lane for another bucket to make it 44-31. In the final moments of the quarter, Lopez connected on a jumper to send Lyon into the fourth with a 50-41 advantage.
 
Kaza opened the fourth with a smooth mid-range jumper to push the lead to 52-43. Both teams traded buckets early, but Abascal broke things open with a big three to make it 61-44. Porter followed with a tough and-one finish, extending the advantage to 68-44. Woods then found Lopez for a quick jumper as the Scots continued to roll. The Panthers made a late push but couldn't close the gap, and Lyon secured the 74-63 victory.
 
Up next, Scots stay at home and will play the Spalding Golden Eagles on Saturday, December 4th at 1:00 PM.
